The hero is literally in a race against time, and that urgency is reflected in the speed in which events unfold. I thought the chief strengths of Tell No One were Coben’s pacing and skillful use of both the first and third person points of view. The discovery of two bodies in the vicinity of lake renews interest in Elizabeth’s murder – and revives police suspicions about David’s story. At the time it was believed that Elizabeth was the victim of a notorious serial killer however, as the novel opens, a case once thought solved is suddenly reopened. The circumstances of her death only compound the tragedy: while spending their anniversary on a secluded lake, David was brutally attacked and left for dead and Elizabeth was kidnapped and later found murdered. David Beck, a pediatrician who is still grieving eight years after the death of his wife Elizabeth. I’m glad I did because Tell No One was a great way to start my summer reading. I was familiar with the suspense thrillers of author Harlan Coben through my work at the library, but it wasn’t until I saw French director Guillaume Canet’s adaptation of Coben’s 2001 novel Tell No One that I decided to read one of his books.
